Dr. Geoffrey Kanter received his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 1987 under the neuropsychological tutelage of Dr. Jeffrey Barth; he was also trained in the Child and Family Systems model developed by the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic. He was the first neuropsychologist hired for the NeuroCare Residential Traumatic Brain Injury Program in Concord, California. He then was hired as a neuropsychologist for the Mills-Peninsula Hospital, San Mateo neuro-rehabilitation unit where he eventually was promoted to Psychology Manager. He then moved in 1991 to Sarasota to become the Director of Psychology for HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital. In 1997, he developed the position of Director of Psychology for Sarasota Memorial Hospital, instituting a large behavioral medicine program for hospital patients. These services continued and expanded after he founded Comprehensive MedPsych Systems in 1998 which grew from 4 psychologists to over 90 clinicians within a multidisciplinary team model including psychiatrists, psychologists, neuropsychologists, and Masters level therapists in more than a dozen locations in 3 states . He also co-founded a neuropsychology practice in Trinidad (Caribbean MedPsych, Ltd.).
In March of 2018, CMPS was acquired by Refresh Mental Health and Dr. Kanter was contracted as Vice President of Refresh Mental Health Florida Operations with responsibilities to continue to grow Florida and Alabama operations. From 2018 through 2021, Dr. Kanter oversaw doubling of growth in clinician staff (160+, including 45+ psychiatrists), revenue, and locations (30+). Dr. Kanter’s employment contract with Refresh Mental Health expired in March of 2022 but he now continues to provide with high level specialized consulting services.
Dr. Kanter has personal relationships with regional and national directors for each of the major commercial insurance carriers (Blue Cross Blue Shield-FL, Aetna, Cigna, United, and Humana). Dr. Kanter has negotiated contractual fee agreements with all of these companies and negotiated and participated in one major insurance company's specialized unique value based performance contract.
Dr. Kanter also owns and runs a separate behavioral healthcare consulting business (Dr. Kanter Consulting, LLC) to assist clinical, financial, and growth operations for practices of any size including solo practitioners, small group practices, large group practices, and even as a consultant to top international equity firms interested in the behavioral health space.
As a clinician. Dr. Kanter is a unique, highly specialized civil forensic neuropsychologist, double board-certified in adult and pediatric neuropsychology; he also serves as the Executive Director of the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology.

Dr. Nancy Parsons is board certified in Pediatric Neuropsychology by the American Board of Pediatric Neuropsychology (ABPdN), one of only 5 in the State of Florida and along with Dr. Kanter, they are the only Board Certified Pediatric Neuropsychologists in the State of Maine. Dr. Parsons provides clinical and forensic neuropsychological evaluations for children age 3 to 21 related to Medical Malpractice, Personal Injury, and Independent Educational Evaluations related to academic placement and services. She performs approximately 50:50 defense:plaintiff work and has a wealth of experience in terms of depositions and court testimony.

Scott A. Kanter

- Certified Public Accountant
Scott has been an Accountant for 30 years, following two generations of accountants who have provided business, financial and tax consulting services to medium-sized family businesses in New England. He has experience with an international accounting firm and was a partner at numerous Boston firms for more than 15 years. Over the past decade, Scott has been the Executive Vice President of finance for an east coast investment holding company. Over that time, he has participated in acquiring, developing and managing residential and commercial real estate on the east coast, numerous restaurants in Massachusetts and a local finance company. Scott’s experience includes negotiating mergers, acquisitions and buy-sell agreements; business operations and financial planning and valuations; real estate acquisitions; and leases and debt-restructurings.
Scott was formerly the CFO of Comprehensive MedPsych Systems, Inc. from April of 2015 through December of 2018. Scott leveraged his business, accounting, financial, and entrepreneurial experience and immersed himself into the medical and behavioral health field. He took charge of all Comprehensive MedPsych Systems’ financial and organizational operations including finance and debt structure, billing and collections, organizational systems and protocols, real estate management, employee and vendor contracts, and Human Resources.
